Samuel'soccupation: CARPENTER,FREEMANinMassachusetts., 1677.Samuel took anoath of allegiance inHaverhill,Essex, Massachusetts.,November 28,1677.(22) Samuel Belknaplived alifetime of at leastseventy-three [73]years and spent most of hislife inthe Salem, Malden,and Haverhillareas of Massachusetts. It ispossiblethat he lived for atime inHampton, Long Island. He was a'joiner', thatis a craftsman whobuilt'fixed' furnishings for a house,such as settees,cupboards,shelves,etc; that are made by 'cabinet-makers'today. Samuel islisted asowningseveral different parcels of land at timesin his lifefrom, two[2]small lots at Hampton, Long Island, in 1653, alarge propertyinSalem,Massachusetts, of which he sold parcels of in deedsdated 1665and1666.In a 'deed' dated April 14, 1671, Samuel ofMaulden,'joiner',Joseph ofBoston, 'glover' and their sister Hannah, sold'theirethirds'[ie;hereditary rights] of three-fourths of an acre in Lynn,partof thehouselott belonging to their father Abraham. In 1673 he boughtatwo andonehalf acre lot in Haverhill, which he sold in 1685. OnOctober13,1696,he deeded his 'homestead' at Haverhill.{twenty-sevenacreswithbuildings] to his son Ebenezer. Samuel and his wifebothdiedinHaverhill, Essex Co, MAssachusetts, she on April 18, 1689andhesometimeafter November 11, 1701.
