The Bedford Gazette, Friday, January 27, 1922, Vol. 124, No. 18, Page 1, Mrs. Sarah Jane Growden.
Mrs. Sarah Jane Growden, aged 84 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katherine Oster, near Centerville on Saturday evening at 6 o'clock, following an illness of about ten days. Deceased was the widow ofJoseph Growden, who served in the Civil War. She was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom are living. There are 41 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren. The following are the children who survive. Mrs.Laura Oster, Bedford; Mrs. Mary Hite, Fellowship; Mrs. Lottie Wilson,Murley's Branch; Mrs. Katherine Oster, Cumberland Valley; H. Ward, Toledo, Ohio; Frederick W., near Cumberland and Thomas J., of Cumberland Valley.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock in the Fellowship church. Interment in the cemetery adjoining the church.
