Notes for this person

?Occupation in Alsace: Tailleur (peddler)

Went to Russis from Oberseebach Alsace in 1808 (1808 is the date given in Stumpp under Bergdorf RL:1). In the passport section, Stumpp has a dateof 1803 (this is an error). Son, Johannes Jr. was born 19 Nov 1807 in Oberseebach. The family likely left the following spring or summer for Russia.

The marriage record to Louisa Herr shows Johannes Alexander's birth to be Rott, Alsace. No birth record has been found in Rott or nearby towns. However, his father, Freidrich Jacob Alexander of Rott was a "Schafer" (sheppard), and therefore it is surmised that the family was not in Rott at the time of Johannes's birth.

Johannes went to Oberseebach, where the Alexander family was later found (his brother, Jakob Peter, took up residence there). He met his wife, Louisa Herr, in Oberseebach, as Louisa's first husband, Martin Pfanner, died in Oberseebach.
