Verna Bekemeyer Obituary Jan. 28, 1917 - Jan. 17, 2007 Verna Kathryn Beke-meyer passed away on Jan. 17, 2007, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, of injuries sustained when she was struck by a vehicle while in a crosswalk in Vacaville near her home the previous day. She was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Prairietown, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Clara Dubbelde. She was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by her brother, Holger, and sister, Mildred. On Nov. 11, 1939, she married E.H. Paul Bekemeyer who preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by her four children, Phyllis and Dale Bailey of Portland, Ore., Dennis and Maureen of Seattle, Wash., Thomas and Melissa of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Beverly and John Kile of Vacaville. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children. Until the day of the accident, she lived independently and remained active in her church community. For many years, she was an avid golfer and regular volunteer at VacaValley Hospital. She will be remembered by family and friends as a devoted mother and steadfast friend to all those who had the privilege of knowing her. A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Vacaville. Remembrances may be sent to the Verna Kathryn Bekemeyer Memorial Fund at Bethany. Arrangements are under the direction of Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 455-7700. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
