Im nachhinein ist bekannt, dass Hans Möller und Georg Steube auf der "Lauer lagen", denn es stand unter Todes- strafe, wenn die weiße Fahne gehißt worden wäre, solange noch deutsche Soldaten in Wichte waren. Oster- samstag kamen amerikanische Panzer von Niederheisheim her nach Wichte. Von weitem konnte man am Berg das von Georg Steube aus der Bodenluke herausgehangene Bettuch sehen.(Quelle 800 Jahre Wichte)
