1378 übertrug Wessel van Loe seine Burg Strevelsloe im Kirchspiel Marl dem Kölner Erzbischof Friedrich von Saarwerden als Offenhaus. Danach waren die Herren van Loe Gefolgsmänner der Erzbischöfe von Köln.
Haus Strevelsloe (in Marl-Drewer) war zunächst der Stammsitz der Familie von Marl. Ihnen folgte im 14. Jh. die Fa. von Loe
Der Hauptbesitz des Hauses Loe lag in den Bauerschaften Drewer und Löntrop, ihm gehörten u. a. die Loemühle, die Mühle im Dorf Marl sowie zahlreiche Bauernhöfe, ferner das Schultengut Wermeling an der Lippe.
