Um 1530 wurde die Marksuhler Kirchgemeinde lutherisch. Die ersten Pfarrer waren Heinrich Wahn, Balthasar Wilhelm und Bernhard Lengsfeld. In die heftigen theologischen Auseinandersetzungenum die Ideen des Matthias Flacius wurde auch der Marksuhler Pfarrer Andreas Thomeyer verstrickt und seines Amtes enthoben.
