wedding day, I wore the same dress when Bill and I were married. (As their wedding gift to us, Christine and Martha generously paid to have the dress be cleaned--so that it turned from brown back to ivory--and altered. Jackie Kay was the one
who'd told me where this work could be done.) Now the dress has been preserved and boxed, should someone in the future want to wear it.
Another story from John and Mimi's wedding: As Mimi processed across the lawn to where the ceremony would take place, three-year-old Alison saw her good friend all dressed up and hollered, "Hey, Mimi!" Alison was quieted and apparently
behaved well for the rest of the ceremony."
