Elson Eugene CARMIEN

Elson E. Carmien, 87, of Huntington, IN, was called to his eternal resting place on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital, Petoskey, MI. Elson entered this world on October 20, 1932, in Sturgis, MI, born to the late Robert and Dorothy (Trexler) Carmien. Elson married Barbara Noel on November 7, 1953, and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2005. Elson then married Janet Tallant. She survives and resides in Petoskey, MI. Elson was a proud graduate of Indiana University and avid fan of Bob Knight and Indiana Hoosier Basketball. He retired after a lengthy career at Our Sunday Visitor/Noll Printing. One of his true loves was the Bay View community in Petoskey, Michigan where countless memories were made with family and friends. Elson was the beloved father of two sons, Chris (Ann) Carmien, Huntington, IN, Cameron (Laura) Carmien, Wabash, IN; two daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Johnston, Huntington, Catherine Carmien, Fort Wayne, IN; two step-sons, Brian Tallant, Kevin Tallant, both of Wixom, MI; and grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 648 N. LaFontaine Street, Huntington, IN 46750, with Pastor Tim Lorenz officiating. The church is asking that everyone please follow the CDC guidelines and the state mandate for social distancing and wearing a mask. A private burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Marion, IN. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Parkview Home Health & Hospice in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750. McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N.
