Notes for this person

Capt. Samuel Chapman, was the only justice of the peace in Tolland for nine years, and was for eleven years a selectman. Very reliable tradition speaks of him as possessing many estimable qualities, among which was that of being an excellent neighbor. He was a captain in the war of 1745 or King George's War. He died during the occupation of the fort following the seige of Louisbourg. He was one of 561 men who died due to Louisbourg's harsh climate, the ruinous condition of its buildings following the siege, and the filth in which the occupation force lived. Burial: Louisbourg Cape Breton County Nova Scotia, Canada Find A Grave Memorial# 105619191 (Exact location unknown). Link made via Ancestry DNA analysis member match and RootsWeb search.
