Notes from researcher Paul Dillon: The birth record for John 'Becher' (aka John Hoy) was finally located in Fairfield County, Ohio, probate court. Eliza is listed as his mother, and 'illigitimate' as his father. We can thus assume the father was a Hoy, and indeed find Isaac Hoy listed as John Hoy's father on John's 1922 marriage license. John listed his birthplace as Canal Winchester, Ohio, at age 40 on his 1922 marriage certificate for his first and possibly only marriage, to Hazel Mosier. His birth record shows him being born (parent's residence) in Greenearth, Ohio. Since he was illigitimate, his birth record also shows him with his mother's surname of Beicher. His marriage certificate (to Hazel) reveals his father's name, Isaac Hoy.
