Notes for this person
Clifford was a member of Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Buchanan Valley and was the manager of Swift and Co. Meatpackers for 11 years. He was also a hotel and restaurant operator for three years and owned and operated the Meadow Valley Abattoir in Gettysburg for 28 years. A 1924 graduate of Biglerville High School, Mr. Bucher received a bachelor of science degree from Penn State University in 1928. In 1956 he became a director of the Arendtsville National Bank, and upon its merger with the Adams County National Bank, was an active director until his death. He was a special minister of his church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He chaired many church activities, most notably the Buchanan Valley picnic, which he planned and executed since the 1940s. He was a member of the Gettysburg Moose, the Gettysburg Elks, the Adams County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Friends of the Animal Shelter, and was involved with the pet therapy program at Michael Manor for several years.
