1900 Census age 35 (1865).<br><br><br>Birth<br>Sponsors : Thomas Forestal and Mary Eroy<br><br>I was told by Helen Monahan that her mother told her that BridgetGrant was married to James Moran and that they had a daughter named Margaret.<br><br>This is from Gaelic Personal Names.<br><br>The name Brigit did not come into common use in Ireland until the modem period but as Máel Brigte devotee of StBrigit and GillaBrigte servant of St Brigit it was much used in the medieval period. The name has been generally anglicised Bridget (which is properly the nameof the Swedish St Brigitta, or Birgitta, who died in 1373, was canonised in 1391 and whose feast-day falls on 1 February). Other forms, pet-forms and equivalents are Bride, Bryde, Breeda, Breetha,Bridie, Bidina, Di, Bidelia, Delia, Dillie,Beesy, Biddy, Bid and Biddle. In current usage, Biddy is the name for the stockIrish woman of the lower class. Brighdín, Brídín, and Bride are popular diminutives of Brigit.
