C. BREITSCHWERDT

Christian Breitschwerdt, son of the late Fridrich and Elizabeth nee Fischer Breitschwerdt, was born March 21, 1877, at Hessenthal, Wuertemberg, Germany. Mrs. Breitschwerdt was called to his eternal reward Friday, March 27, 1936, at 12:30 pm after a brief illness of about six weeks with a caner of the stomach. He attained the age of 59 years and 6 days.

Before coming to America on March 1, 1902, he had served in the German army for two years.

On October 29, 1903 he was joined in holy wedlock with Miss Emma Lena Holz, at Wells Creek, by the Rev. Mr. J. Abele. To this union were born five children. One son, Harry, preceded him death at the age of three months and 10 days.

Mr. Breitschwerdt was baptized in the Evangelical Faith, and on April 12, 1891, he was confirmed by the Rev. Mr. F. Lubrecht in Germany. Since his confirmation he had always been a very faithful church worker. He joined the Immanuel's Evangelical Church at Wells Creek shortly after his marriage in 1903. He served on the church Board for twelve years. His entire life here in America was spent in Wabaunsee county.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his grief-stricken wife, four children, Adolph, Leo, Mabel and Sylvia, one daughter-in-law, Nora Teel Breitschwerdt, wife of Leo, one brother in Alabama, one brother and two sisters in Germany and host of other relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

"Farewell, farewell. You said away Your face is turned to radiant day

To where the lighted home-land are;

From glimmers of the seas and star;

Close the tired eyes until you gain

God's heaven, where is no more pain."

Rev. J. Abele of Blue Springs, MO., preached the German sermon and Rev. C.E. Wierth was the officiating pastor at the funeral services, which were held Sunday afternoon at Well Creek.
