He was born in September 1703 and baptised in Scharmbeck on the 30 September 1703 in Teufelsmoor near Osterholz-Scharmbeck in Niedersachsen in Germany. His parents were Marten and Hibbel Tietjen. (C16)

He married Trine Wendelken in the St. Willehadi church in the nearby Osterholz-Scharmbeck on the 13th of November 1727. (C1)
They initially lived in Überhamm. About 1738 they moved to house No. 9C in Oberendermoor. (C16)

Second Marriage:
He married the widow Anna Monsees (maiden name: Grotheer) on the 22nd of November 1752 in the St. Willehadi church in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. (C1)
