CHILDHOOD DISEASE Carol had smallpox as a girl. She and her mother were in quarantinefor quite some time. FAMILY HISTORY Carol went to college for one year at San Jose State College. She never dated anyoneelse after that. Carol also worked at the American Trust Bank in San Jose. When shejoined John while he Washington s in the Army, she worked in the PXoffice in Mississippi and at the bank at Camp McCain. Sh e alsoworked with John in the Finance Office at Camp McCain. In Atlanta sheworked at the F irst National Bank of Atlanta. After having a family, Carol worked at home as a seamstress anddressmaker and was involve d in activities with her children (CampFire Girls, Boy Scouts, etc.).
