- Biography Portrait and Biographical Album of Vermilion County, Illinois 977.365D3p (printed 1889), p 280: Eli and Rachel were residents of Old Dominion until 1832, when theycame to Vermilion County. He was an ordained reverend in the MethodistEpiscopal Church. Eli and Rachel had 9 children. After Rachel died hemarried Miss Amanda Oakwood who died 1874. IGHS Vertical File (Dale Hoover): Eli b. May 25, 1804. They had 9children (as appear on attached group sheet). He was the firstblacksmith in Clarkesville, Vernon, Clinton, Ohio.
