Caspar von Löwenstein war das dritte von fünf Kindern des Leo von Löwenstein (1531-1590) und der Katharina von Schaufuß († 1575), Tochter des Caspar von Schaufuß und seiner Frau Catherine.
Er war in erster Ehe verheiratet mit Anna von Weitolshausen, genannt Schrautenbach († 1579) aus Badenburg bei Gießen. Mit ihr hatte er einen Sohn:
Christoph von Löwenstein (1578-1636), Waldeckischer Hofjunker zu Arolsen, ⚭ Johanna von Wesselen aus Borkum († 1636)
Aus einer zweiten Ehe mit Anna Gaugreben zu Sittlingshausen, Tochter des Gebhard Gaugreben und der Ursula Schad von Salbei, ging ein weiterer Sohn hervor:
Georg Leo von Löwenstein (1582-1635)
