He was born 12 Mar 1839 in Baden,Germany and came to America at age 7 years with his parents to a farmnortheast of Highland. He married Seraphine Kermss and they lived ona farm in Saline Twp. She died in 1903. Seven children were born,one son William survives. In 1902 they moved into Highland. In 1910he married Mrs. Anna Knebel in Pocahontas. He was buried in St.Joseph Cem.
