During WWII, Syvilla worked for IBM, but had to quit, b/c, as she says in a letter, ©ﾙSthey won©ﾙut let man and wife work in the I.B.M. factory so when the war was over and the boys came back the married women had to quick (sic) so since that time I have been doing 6 washing and irons a week ℗ﾅ©ﾙT Her letters to her cousin in North Dakota are sweet; she sounds lonely.
