Michael VIII. Dukas Komnenos Paleologos Kaiser von Byzanz, 1224 – 1282, war zunächst ein byzantinischer Gouverneur, dann war er Regent für den unmündigen Kaiser Johannes IV., den er 1259 absetzenund blenden ließ, und machte sich selbst zum Kaiser.
