John T. KRULL

John T. Krull "Grandpa Johnny", age 92, Nichols, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born Aug. 1, 1908, in Cicero Township, son of the late Herman and Hattie (Hilliker) Krull. He was married to Luella Gottschalk on Dec. 1, 1928. Shepreceded him in death in 1955. John farmed in Cicero Township and later worked for the Nichols Cooperative. He retired in 1975. His love ofbaseball gave him 30 years of playing on the Nichols team, and was afanfor many more years. He sponsored "Grandpa Johnny's" softball teamforseveral years in the 1980's. In 1998, the Nichols baseball diamond wasnamed Krull Field in his honor. He took an active part as a member ofhis church and served on the council for 44 years. His is survivedby:five sons, Earl S. (Alvina), Milwaukee, Jim (Virginia), Appleton,Jack(Dorothy), Bonduel, Terry (Shirley), Bonduel, Rodney (Ruthie), Mercer; a daughter, Audrey (Robert) Moeller, Black Creek; 19 grandchildren;41 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Krull and Lorraine Gottschalk, both of Appleton. He was preceded in death by his wife,a daughter, a son, grandson, and special neighbors and friends, Melvinand Florence Staple, Nichols. Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher FuneralHome, Seymour, from 4 until 8 this evening and Monday, Dec.18, at Trinity United Church of Christ, Leeman, from 9:30 a.m. until services at11 a.m. with the Rev. Sara Hartman officiating. Burial willbe inHighland Memorial Park, Appleton. --
