Beatrice "Bea" Hottes, age 89, passed away on October 29, 2009 at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Ruth and Joseph Riggs on April 26, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Howard Hottes, and her sister, Mary King.
Bea graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Class of1937, and Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Class of1966. Bea married Howard Hottes on November 27, 1941 and they raised two sons together.
Howard's career as a civil engineer took them from one end of the country to the other. When Howard retired, they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, where Bea was active in the First Presbyterian Church and theOrder of the Eastern Star. She especially liked music (including playing the organ in church), reading, cooking, and sewing.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph of Davenport, IA and Dr. Frederick(Lorraine) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and four granddaughters. She is also survived by her sisters, Doris McBride and Frances Spencer, her brother David Dorminey, and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6,2009 in the Orchard Mesa Memorial Park Cemetery.
