Notes for this person
[fosselmann.ftw] Solomon Bower I was married to Magdalena Fusselman on May 2, 1811.Soon after their marriage they moved to, what we now call the BowerHomestead. Solomon and Magdalena purchased from John Adams andIsabella, his wife 221 acres, 135 parcels for $9,982.80. Thistransaction took place on June 1, 1816. There were eleven children born to Solomon I and his wife Magdalena. The stone house in which these 11 children lived with their parents, consisted of two large rooms, a basement, a fireplace, and a largeloft. This house was built by James Adams in 1794, when GeorgeWashington was President of the United States. We can imagine howcrowded they must have been. They decided that they should have moreroom, so in 1831 they built the west end to the original house withtwo fireplaces. The mother, Magdalena, did not live long enough toenjoy this luxury, for she died November 26, 1833.
