Elkhart Truth October 28, 1968 Dr. Wayne W. Lansche, 52, died this morning at General Hospital of complications following a minor traffic accident in Nappanee Friday. Dr. Lansche, who had taken office in May as president of the Indiana Optometric Association, had been practicing here since October, 1939, the year of his graduation from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry. A graduate of Elkhart High School, he was captain of the school tennis team. He was a member of the Western Lawn Tennis Association and once served on its executive board. Dr. Lansche was a life member of the Indiana University Alumni Association. He also held memberships in the First Presbyterian Church and Elcona Country Club. Born Oct. 6, 1916, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Dr. W. A. Lansche and Mrs. Helen Lansche, now of Goshen. On June 15, 1941, he was married to the former Kathryn E. Borneman here. Surviving with his wife and mother are a son, Wayne Jr., at home; three daughters, Mrs. Morris (Cynthia) Stegall, Fort Wayne, Miss Mary Kay Lansche of Malibu Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Gary (Susan) Hayes, Lafayette; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Proscanor of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ruth Dimitriatis, New York City, and Mrs. Antoinette Terrano of Niagara Falls, N. Y., and a brother Robert, Tulsa, Okla. Friends may call at the Hartzler-Gutermuth Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Tuesday and until noon Wednesday when the body will be taken to the First Presbyterian Church to lie in state until services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Edgar Prasse, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Drs. Herbert Cormican, W. M. Stubbins, J. J. Fishler, and Thomas Artley, Raymond Karasch, Arthur Jones, C. W. Trautman and Harry Shriener. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkhart County Cancer Society or the Elkhart General Hospital Memorial Fund.
