He moved to Colfax Township near Vincent, Iowa, in 1895. Spouse: Dorothea Mahnke, they married 12-17-1889. Six children: Ernest August b 1891 d 1975, Otto Ernest b 1894 d 1984, William Fredrick Carl, b 1894 d 1980, Martin Wilhelm b 1897 d 1897, Erna Margaretha Dorothea, b 1899 d 1958, and Arthur Friedrich Edward b 1903 d 1980.
