Cyrilla E. Collins, 84, of Grand Island, formerly of Canon City, Colo., died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Tiffany Square Nursing Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Canon City, Colo. Burial will be in the Mountain Vale Cemetery.
Mrs. Collins was born Jan. 28, 1918, at Ransom, Kan., to George and Josephine Schilling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Collins, in 1981.
Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, George and Debbie Collins of Gering, and a daughter and son-in-law, Hellie and Randy Craig of Grand Island.
She is also survived by two grandchildren, Heidi and her husband Dennis Hackett of St. Paul and Todd and his wife Elizabeth Craig of Grand Island; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was raised on a farm in Kansas and in Monta Vista, Colo. She worked various jobs in Colorado Springs. She married Walter J. Collins on Oct. 29, 1948, and lived in Colorado Springs. Then in 1960, they moved to Canon City, Colo., where she was a homemaker. The last five years she had been living in Grand Island with her daughter.
While living in Colorado, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Canon City, Colo. In Nebraska, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
She was also preceded in death by a baby boy, her parents, three sisters, five brothers and a great-grandson.
Memorials are suggested to the family, St. John's Lutheran Church in Canon City, Colo., or Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
