Connecticut Courant, 8/5/1799 At Glastenbury, on Wednesday the 31st,after a long (and in some respects) distressing illness, which she endured with a great degree of patience and resignation, Madam Jerusha Woodbridge, relict of the Rev. Ashbel Woodbridge (formerly pastor of the first Church in that town;) in the 89th year of her age. The solemnity of her interment was on Thursday the 1st. Her remains were previously conveyed to the Meeting-House, where a discourse, adapted to the mournful occasion, was delivered by the Rev. William Lockwood, from Philip. i. 21, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Those who have had the happiness of being acquainted with this singularly amiable, worthy, and pious lady, will unite in the belief that it has been Christ for her to live, therefore gain to die.
