Doris Jane CRONSHAW

Doris J. (Cronshaw) Hurley, 82, of East Otis, died Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Wingate at West Springfield after a long illness with her husband and best friend of forty-seven years by her side. She was born in Holyoke and attended Holyoke schools. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in South Hadley. Doris worked at the first Holyoke city market, owned by Frank Cataldo, also at the First National Store, Spaulding, the Yankee Pedlar, and she was the head cashier at the Holyoke Food Mart. She most recently retired as treasurer of her husband's business, Hurley's Garage. Doris always had a smiling greeting for everyone, and she was a devoted animal lover and leaves behind her pet cat, Kalli. Doris was a founding member of the Otis Snowmobile Club, and she enjoyed snowmobiling in all of Maine, Canada and New York. She enjoyed going to the Springfield Indians' hockey games, and also enjoyed visiting the coast of Maine. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mabel (Doyle) Cronshaw, her sisters, Elsie McKenzie, Marion Pacquette, Gerry Vilenevue, and her beloved twin-sister, Dorothy Jarvis who was her soul mate. She leaves several nieces and nephews. Doris is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Albert Hurley; her son, Gordon Wilson and his wife, Vickie, of Middlefield.
