NORTHVILLE - James E. Colson, 51, of Bridge Street, Northville, was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:30 yesterday afternoon at Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. Mr. Colson was taken to the hospital by the Northvile Ambulance Service after being stricken with a heart attack at his home, it was reported. He had a heart condition the last several years. Mr. Colson had served as a deputy for the Fulton sheriff's department for several years, resigning six years ago due to ill health. He was the director of the Edie and the Boys band which bas been playing at area functions several years. He was employed as a machinist by the Curtin-Hebert Machine Corporation, Gloversville. Mr. Colson was born March 5, 1924, in Fultonville and attended schools in that area. He had resided in Northville the last 19 years. He was united in marriage to the former Edythe Ford, who survives, Nov. 14, 1946. He served during World War II with an Air Force anti-aircraft battalion in the African , European and Middle East theaters. He was discharged with the rank of sergeant. Mr. Colson was a member ofSt. Francis Church of Northville. He was a member of the Gloversville VFW Post, the Northville Civic Association and of Local 163, American Federation of Musicians. He also was an honorary member of the Wells volunteer fire department. Survivors, besides his wife, are one son, James B. Colson; one daughter, Mrs. Gail Spen­cer; and his father, Buell Colson, all of Northville, his mother, Mrs. Colson; and one brother, Raymond Colson, both of Johnstown RD 2; three grandchildren, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
