DEER LODGE – Iris Orinda Bookout joined our Father in Heaven on Nov. 20, 2000. Iris was born Jan. 9, 1908, in Blackwell, Okla., to Nancy Miller-Bone and Maurice Bone. She married Melvin Bookout, May 26, 1929, and they moved to Montana in 1942, where they ranched in the Big Timber area and owned and operated the Calhoun Lane Market in Billings in 1958. Iris enjoyed knitting and crocheting, along with taking drives and spending time with family and grandkids. She is survived by daughter Donna Martin-Cornell of Deer Lodge; son and daughter-in-law Roy and Kathy Bookout of Shepherd; seven grandchildren, Butch Martin and Bob Martin, both of Deer Lodge, Bill Martin of Stevensville, Jerry Cornell of Billings, Roy, Deby and Jess Bookout, all of Billings; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister Lela Edna Viers. Cremation will be taking place. There will be a memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Jewell Funeral Home in Deer Lodge. Interment will by in Byron, Wyo., in the spring. Loving memories for all that knew Iris. Jewell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
