Eunice HOUSE

Note: Material on Eunice House is frustratingly vague and contradictory. Everyone agrees that she married Thomas Loveland, but dates of her birth range from 1668 to 1687, and of her marriage between 1691 and 1705. If her son Thomas Loveland was in fact born in 1700, a marriage date around 1698 would be reasonable. Her parentage is equally uncertain. She is often listed as the daughter of William House and Hannah Hollister, but that is patently absurd, because William House, the husband of Hannah Hollister, was born Sep 9, 1713, the son of William House and Sarah Loveland. Hannah Hollister was born Feb 16, 1713/14. Eunice is also sometimes listed as the daughter of William House and Sarah Bidwell, who were parents of the elder William House named above, and grandparents of the man often presented as her husband. Her dates, obscure as they are, fit with the assumption that she was the daughter of William House and Sarah Bidwell, and with no other identifiable William House. Why there is such confusion and so many obvious absurdities (there are several more) in the record of this family as it is being circulated I don't know. All it proves is that any serious genealogist needs to verify the facts. What I am presenting as Eunice's ancestry is not something I have been able to verify, but it is at least logically coherent, and therefore possible.
