Bruno Borchardt was born on 19 Aug 1886 in Berlin. There is no information about his or her family background and education. He was married, had two daughters and lived with his family in Berlin-Tiergarten (Kurfürstenstraße 54 and Ulmenstraße 3). He worked as a manager in the record industry and was Director-General of the Deutsche Grammophon AG, Managing Director of the Polydor Holding company in Switzerland, and since 1918 sole director of Polyphonwerke AG.

1933 was the German Grammophon as a Jewish business because Bruno Borchardt and his colleague Fritz Schönheimer were active in the management of the enterprise. Under the impression of the boycotts of Jewish business announced for April 1, 1933, he and his wife and children fled to Switzerland. He resigned from his office as head of Deutsche Grammophon. From Switzerland he went to France. In Paris, he served as the delegate of the Board of Directors of Polydor Holding AG. His further work in Paris is not documented. He probably died in France in 1941 or earlier.
