Notes for this person
Wilhelm came to this country in 1913 and went to San Franciso, CA to work
as a lithographer. His brother Maximillian was there and was apparently
his sponsor. Maximillian was his oldest brother. Max eventually
returned to Munich, Germany - perhaps to care for their mother,
Victoria. Max committed suicide during WWII as things were very bad at
that time.
Wilhelm used the name William Brune until after WWII when he had his name
changed legally. The story was that he found it difficult to find a job
because he was German. Germans found it rather hard in this country
during both the First World War and the Second World War. It is unknown
whether Cecile ever knew of the change. It was never mentioned during
Wilhelm's lifetime.
His life is a mystery between the years 1913 and 1929 when he married
Cecile in St. Louis, MO.
