Ruth Ann OHNSMAN

Ruth Ann Ohnsman Adams, 77, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2015 in Sebastopol, California surrounded by her family. In her last moments, she was reminded how much she was loved and will always be remembered.

Ruth met the love of her life, George Adams, at a hockey game in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and married soon after. In 1963 they filled their car with meager belongings and headed to San Francisco, California to start a family. The Adams Family moved to Napa in 1968 and started making memories on Janette Drive. Ruth loved being a mother, and Kirsten and Gordie kept her on her toes for many years. In 1980, Ruth went back to college at Sonoma State and earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology. Ruth and George retired to Eugene, Oregon in 1992, where her interest in Native American culture and spirituality became an important part of her life and carried her through to her last days. After George’s death, she returned to the Napa Valley in 1996.

Ruth volunteered for years with The Special Olympics, The Napa Valley Marathon, Veterans Home and the Chamber of Commerce in Yountville. She taught Sunday School at Covenant Presbyterian Church and in addition, was a Wedding Organizer, janitor and office manager.

She will be remembered for her Christmas Eve decorating gatherings, Chinese New Year dinners, homemade Halloween costumes and open door policy on Janette Drive.
