Edward A. Ruopp
The death of Edward A. Ruopp, 78, of Fieldstone Road, Brookfield, occurred at his home Thursday morning. He was the husband of Elda H. Frulla Ruopp.
Born in Danbury, July 26, 1921, son of the late George and Anna Schulze Ruopp, he attended Immanuel Lutheran School and the Henry Abbott Technical School. Mr. Ruopp moved to Brookfield in 1957.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy as an Aviation Radioman First Class from June 1942 to September 1945.
Employed by Southern New England Telephone Co. for 40 years, as a cable splicer and later as a foreman and supervisor, he retired in 1982.
He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Men's Club, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Joann and Gerald Calneni of Somers, CT, and Donna and Raymond Kohl of Westford, MA; a son, Robert Ehrhard and his wife Marilyn of Anderson, SC; five brothers, Martin Ruopp of Bridgewater, Paul and Fred Ruopp of Danbury, Ted Ruopp of Hawleyville and Ernie Ruopp of Raleigh, NC; three sisters, Helen Ruopp of Danbury, Christa Lang of Brookfield and Lillian Bardo of Danbury; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury, Monday morning at 10:00 with the Rev. Daniel Wehmeier, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with military honors.
Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Sunday from 2 to 4:00 and 6 to 8:00 p.m.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the "Step of Faith" of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 26 West St., Danbury, CT 06810, or to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897-2523.
