Mary E. "Dolly" Haffner Staib, age 81, of 31 Main St., Bethel, died Thursday at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Leonard E. Staib Sr.
Mrs. Staib was born in Bridgeport, Conn., Oct. 13, 1917, a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Kerwin Haffner. She lived most of her life in Bethel and had worked for 15 years as an Assembler at R.A. Boehm in Bethel, until her retirement in 1985.
Mrs. Staib is survived by three sons, Leonard E. Staib Jr. of Danbury, George F. Staib of Brookfield, and Gary L. Staib of Coconut Creek, Fla.; two daughters, Mary E. Bennitt and Ruth A. Nehez, both of Bethel; one brother, Frederick Haffner Jr. of Monroe; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Bethel VNA, One School Street, Bethel, or to The Bethel First Congregational Church, Building Fund, Main Street, Bethel, CT 06801.
The funeral service will be held at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Sunday at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel, in the spring.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Home, Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
