SOUTHBURY - Julius V. Grandieri, 86, of Heritage Village, died Sunday, February 15, at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Nancy (Senior) Grandieri.
Mr. Grandiere was born September 4, 1922, in Danbury, son of the late Joseph and Antonia (Leo) Grandieri. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he owned and operated Grand Manufacturing, specializing in ladies sportswear, for more than 40 years in Danbury.
He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Catholic War Veterans, the VFW and Phoenix Hose Company 8 in Danbury, and was a charter member of the Marine Corps League.
He enjoyed water sports, living on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield and vacationing at his home in Rhode Island. He loved spending time with family and friends.
He leaves two sons, Joseph Grandieri and his wife, Patricia, of Southbury, and Robert Grandieri and his wife, Robin, of Waterford; two daughters, Mary Ann Foncello and her husband, Martin, of Brookfield, and Diane Pflomm and her husband, Brian, of New Milford; three brothers, Peter, Modesto and Donald Grandieri; his sister-in-law, Mary Grandieri; his brother- and sister-in-law, John and Thea Senior; his grandchildren, Joseph, David and Michael Grandieri, Laura Grandieri and her husband, Christopher, Bryan and Kevin Grandieri, Martin Foncello, III, and his wife, Nicole, and Jason and Lisa Pflomm; three great-grandchildren, Sooki and Rori Grandieri and Nina Foncello, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Francis Grandieri.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated February 19 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial followed in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Arrangements were by Cornell Memorial Home, Danbury.
