Albert E. Abendschein, 93, of Matthews, NC, formerly of Valhalla, NY, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Sardis Oaks Nursing Home. He was born on October 13, 1910 in New York City, son of the late Frederick H. and Louise Staib Abendschein. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from the US Army. He was also a member of The Happy Times Club of Matthews. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Peg Abendschein of the home; two children Billie Fuller and husband Jerry of Wesley Chapel, NC and Edward Abendschein and Rosemary McCabe of Black Rock, CT; beloved sister Shirley E. Abendschein of Kennett Square, PA; and two grandchildren Mark C. Gadbois and Dianne Savelle and husband Tim, all of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel. A short prayer service will be held during the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Public Library of Charlotte, Attn: Mint Hill Branch, 310 N. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28202. Arrangements by McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel.
