"Albert Dammann retired from the ministry in either 1906 or 1907. While he was a minister he served congregations in the Baraboo and Merrimac areas. He would ride on horseback to preach at the three congregations which were located some distance from each other on the circuit. After he left this area he preached several years at Peshtigo, Wis.

Upon his retirement he received employment ... (unleserlich) and door factory in West Allis. ... (unleserlich) , he received an offer to become secretary and treasurer of Wm. H. Schmidt & Sons Company. This was a millwork company in Wauwatosa where he remained until his death in 1941.

He loved to sing German songs. My mother was an accomplished pianist and she would join him when friends and relatives would visit our home for parties. My father and mother would often invite actors and actresses who where performing at the Pabst Theatre as members of the German Stock Company - such as Hannah Rueggold, Fritz Fischer, Ernie Muschau, etc."
