Carolyn S. (Cathy) TERVEER

Carolyn S. Hakes, 80, of Decatur, IN passed away at her residence on Monday, November 21, 2016. Carolyn was born on January 24, 1936 in Adams County to the late Bernard T. and Frances M. (Deininger) Terveer. On May 18, 1957 she married Ivan V. Hakes. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2006. Carolyn was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Women of St. Mary and St. Vincent DePaul Society. She had worked at St. Joseph Catholic School and United Telephone Co. She is survived by her two sons, Chris (Laura) Hakes and Greg (Jill) Hakes both of Decatur; two daughters, Stephanie (Curt) Spielman of Greenfield and Suzanne (Michael) Flynn of Marion; brother, David Terveer of Decatur; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Carolyn was preceded in death by a son Doug, 5 siblings, Mary Martha Miller, Dr. John Terveer, Thomas Terveer, Kathleen Rumschlag and Phil Terveer. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary prior to visitation at 3:15 followed by St. Vincent DePaul Memorial Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 26th at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with calling from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Father Jose Panamattathil will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
