Agnes Mary Althoff was born on November 19, 1919, to Thomas and Anna (Poss) Althoff at home. She grew up on her parent's farm in Mooreton, ND, and attended school there. Agnes married Lawrence Terfehr on November 17, 1948 in Mooreton and moved to their first home in 1949 at rural Wolverton, MN, where they lived for forty-nine years. They retired from farming in 1976, and in 1998, Lawrence and Agnes moved to Breckenridge, MN. She worked side by side with her husband and nine children farming the land and raising livestock. She enjoyed her children, growing vegetables, and especially flower gardening. She raised roses for Jackson Perkins as test plants; they were her love. She also grew Job's tears which produced "beads" that were used to make rosaries. She was famous for her homemade carrot raisin bread, wheat bread and oatmeal cookies. Agnes' nimble fingers crocheted afghans and sewed quilts for her children and grandchildren, church bazaars, the missions and other organizations. She was active in her church, Christian Mothers, and in Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life. Agnes' greatest aspirations in life were to be a loving, kind, mother who raised caring, Christian children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her life.
