Occupation: weaver and money lender. In an interview with Sadie Cemnik Lazowick, he was a weaver in Grodek (near Bialystok). His mother died in child birth. He had a brother that was conscripted into the Russian army at age 5 and never heard from again. He was married to his first wife for 12 years but they were childless so he divorced her.
