H. Vaughn Dead Mrs. J. H. Vaughn, after several weeks illness of a complication of diseases*, died at her home in Congo, Wednesday, July 24, at the age of 63 years. Funeral services were conducted on the 25th, by Rev. J. F. Reams and David Asher, and the remains laid to rest in the family burial lot. Mrs. Vaughn was long a faithful member of the Long Branch Baptist Church, and was loved by all. She is survived by her husband and six sons, Samuel, John R., od Danville, IL, Wm. C., of Oregon, Elmer, Chas, and Walter Vaughn, who is now in the army at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. 1918-1919 are the years of the flu pandemic (January 1918 - December 1920) was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic, the first of the two pandemics involving H1N1 influenza virus. It infected 500 million people across the world, including remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and killed 50 to 100 million of them - three to five percent of the world's population - making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in human history.
