Middleton and Baldwin (VA State Land Grants, from Charles Gordon, book and page number not given);; on 19 December 1797 he and his wife Rebecca lived in Greene County,TN when they gave a power of attorney to Martin McFaran or McFanan to make a deed to Jacob Carper or whoever was in possession of land on Catauba Creek for which Jeremiah had previously given his bondfor 408 acres to John Walker; the deed was made 13 February 1798 to Coonrad Swert or Scout for 100 acres adjoining Jacob Carpers land part of the 148 acre grant to Jeremiah (Botetourt Co.
