Aus RuH Nr. 35/1991: "Mit den zahlreichen Hunsrücker Auswanderern ab 1824 kam die Familie Simon am 8.2.1828 in Porto Alegre an. Sie nahm Wohnsitz in der 1827 gegründeten Regierungskolonie Sao Jose de Hortencio nördlich von Sao Leopoldo und baute dort die erste Mahlmühle. Das damalige Konoliallos ist bis heute im Besitze der Familie geblieben."

Anmerkung: Nach einer Veröffentlichung der Simon-Sippe in Brasilien auf familiysearch.org startete die Familie am 26.09.1828 an Bord des Schiffes "Olbers" in Bremen und kam in Rio de Janeiro am 17.12.1828 an. Sie fuhren von Rio de Janeiro nach Porto Alegre mit dem Schiff "Orestes" am 24.01.1829 ab und kamen am 08.02.1829 an, also ein Jahr später als in RuH geschrieben, an.
