Sie galt als schöne und kluge, aber ein wenig überhebliche Frau, die aber nach Wipos Gesta Chuonradi II imperatoris ihrem Mann eine notwendige Gefährtin mit großem Einfluss gewesen sein soll. Sie starb am 14. oder 15. Februar 1043 an der Ruhr. Sie wurde im Dom zu Speyer begraben. Die bei der Graböffnung entnommenen Haare der Kaiserin zeigten nach Analysen klar, dass es sich um eine Frau vor der Menopause handelt. Mithin erscheint das auf ihrer verbleiten Kopfgrabplatte ausgewiesene Geburtsjahr 999 als korrekt.
