Flüchtete Mitte Februar 1945 mit den Brüdern Hubert, Kunibert und Leo, sowie Mutter Maria und Großvater August Leo Schmidt in das Flüchtlingslager Tribsees [ab Tütz mit der Bahn]. Dort stößt Tante Martha Hedwig Schmidt hinzu. Stadt wurde während der einwöchigen Besitzergreifung durch die Rote Armee geräumt, was die Bewohner zum Leben im Wald zwang.
Reiste 1957 nach vollendeter Lehre von Wismar in die BRD nach Düsseldorf als Begleitperson der schwerbehinderten [Fußkrank] Tante Maria Hedwig Riebschläger aus. Lebte für etwa 1,5 Jahre bei ihr und Tante Getrud Maria Lüdicke.
