Kinderkrankheiten sind solche Krankheiten, die zwar nicht nur Kinder bekommen, die aber häufig schon im Kindesalter auftreten. Was zählt dazu? Diphterie, Röteln, Masern, Mumps oder Windpocken waren für Kinder im Mittelalter lebensgefährlich. Aber auch die Cholera oder Scharlach waren gefährliche Krankheiten, die oft auch Kinder bekamen. Nur die Hälfte der Bevölkerung erreichte im Mittelalter das 18. Lebensjahr.
