Alte Flurbezeichnung „Am Romberge“, entstanden aus „am Rodenberge“ (gerodeter Berg).
1400 ist Aleff von Eicklinghoven mit dem Hof Romberg belehnt. 1356 war Goswin van dem Rodenberge Pächter des Hofes, der vermutlich erst sehr viel später den Namen Romberg oder Rodenberg erhielt.
